Cheap PC feasible?

Celeron.....

and? you want a basic system, celerons are not all the same like they used to be and i had the kabylake version with ssd, 8gb ram, gt 710 or gtx 750 and was snappy for what i used which wasnt gaming involved, could play the odd game, but thats not what they are for.

anyways you asked if it was possible to build a cheap pc for £300 and ive proved you can, if you want better performing stuff for the same tasks then spend more or buy used.

Sorry mate. I appreciate your kindness. I was just curious about using a Celeron.

If you really want to keep costs down then go for single stick 4GB DDR4 for now and maybe add some more later on if you need to. 4 GB should be fine for basic use. I'm doing the same on one of mine and never noticed any lagging. People don't go for internal optical drives anymore, instead keep an external usb one handy just in case.

its all good.

mean i havent had issues using low end systems if its a cost thing and im not doing much with it, but while the g3950 i had and like the other celerons are just dual cores, they are not exactly slow, they are better than what you get in most Nucs etc, they just lack the HT of an i3 and ive been looking at the same coffee lake celeron for a basic build, but anyways it was just a suggestion, obviously if you can do better then go for it, just dont assume lower end stuff cant do the tasks you ask unless they were very demanding.

Thing is i prefer the cpu in my quote. You agree its a better one?

https://us.hardware.info/reviews/8145/budget-king-intel-pentium-gold-g5400-review

Yes G5400 is better CPU because of hyperthreading, G4900 probably has similar performance as G3950 don't have hyperthreading. G4900 would struggled in games like Battlefield 1, Prey and Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1080p Ultra. But G5400 was out of stock at OCUK so I managed found G5400 in stock somewhere for £5 more.

If you know where to find it then buy it and you can build a system from my quote included all for just £300. :)

Do you really need a PC ? A Raspberry Pi could work as an alternative (roughly £50 all in plus external USB DVD drive). It has Libre Office as an alternative to MS Office.

My old pc had an i3-6100 and that played some games fine. What is the equivalent to that as still looking for a low cost pc.
