after PCI-X raid card that can do the following

8+ sata ports
raid 5
can take drives upto bigger then 1.5TB
create arrays over 2GB
doesnt have to be sata2 as long as it can do the above

reason for PCI-X is there the only slots i have left on my mb

i have 2 spare PCI-X atm (will do when i get rid of my adaptec 2610sa and 21610sa)

all my pci-e x16 are full and also my pci slot

so if anyone knows of any names please list them here

LSI Logic Megaraid 300-8X fits the bill...

I've got the 300-8xlp (low profile) which is the same but for some daft reason doesn't have any vista drivers, which is a bit of an issue... I don't think the standard 8X has this same issue. Other than the missing drivers I've found it very easy to use, feature rich, fast and reliable.

The LP that I have (cheaper) is here
and the normal version is here

I'd suggest double checking it will work with vista before you buy if you don't want to be stuck with XP for years to come. If the standard SATA ones don't work with vista you could look at the SAS/SATA line which I suspect is a lot more expensive (here)

my file server is currently running 2k3 but would most prob move it to a vista core OS in the near future maybe 2k8 or Win7
