Hi,

I need a new phone to replace my crapberry. The only things I require are:

-Fast web browsing
-Good for connecting my gmail to
-SMS/Whatsapp
-Cheap (£100?)
-Not Apple!

I dont need GBs of memory, I dont really want millions of apps etc.

I know nothing about phones- could I please have some recommendations for what I should get?

Bought the Motorola Moto G for the wife for £90, locked to Vodafone, unlocked for £1.69 :)

Best phone for the price by a country mile, does all on your list excellently :)

Thanks guys!

So it seems:

3G + 4.5 inch screen is £80
4G + 5 inch screen is £140

How beneficial is 4G? I dont really know the difference if I am honest?

Actually there are 3 versions:

Moto G - 4.5", 3G only
Moto G 4G - same as the previous version but with added 4G + micro SD card slot
Moto G 2014 - 5", 3G + micro SD card slot

For your use you probably won't see much of a difference between 3G and 4G, so it it will probably come down more on how much you want to spend and size. They all have very similiar internals so in terms of performance it should be about the same.

Could you just tell me difference between 3G and 4G in case I didnt explain my usage requirements properly?

In simple terms it's data speed rates. From what I've noticed 3G is averagely 10mb while 4G can go as fast as 100mb. This can help if you download a fair bit on your phone, or often use it for video streaming/online radio/music. For web browsing, emails and data messaging services like Whatsapp though there's not much difference, latency would probably matter more compared to speed for these things (which will be network dependant).
