Anyone got any suggestions?

As far as locations go, as long as it's easy to navigate to by tube and not in the middle of the east end or something it's fine.

And not wetherspoons, want something a bit different.
I have heard about these Sam Smith pubs so also maybe some other suggestions too! ( If such things exist :D )

Not found one I consider 'cheap'. Even ones that brew their beer onsite seem to charge you £4+ for a pint of ale...

Whetherspoons generally cheap, you can get free drink with a meal. Two near my work that i go to. one on chancery lane and on near holborn

Thursday they have the curry day, you can get a curry and pint for £7. :D

Also worth checking out some of the pubs that use their own breweries but they not that cheap.

Cheshire cheese is not that expensive for london.

I think this is the right pub, if you go to bow lane near st pauls, you can go to a realy old pub there, the labourers that built st pauls used to go there as this old guy i used to work with used to tell me.

This one is down an alley, another old pub near by. Not that cheap though, but not expensive for london.

I was in a great wee pub beside Euston station. Had an amazing selection of beer and was pretty cheap. Not sure of the name, but come out of the station past all bar one, keep going and it's just at the corner of the green space.

The Euston Tap? Not all that cheap, but not bad for the location I guess. In a big sort of stone column in front of the station, directly opposite the Cider Tap.

If it wasn't that one, check it out anyway when you're back in the real world :p

Euston Tap? Been meaning to visit that. Cheers for the recommendation! Hows the trip going?

Yea, Was the tap. Around eight pounds for a large glass of wine and a pint, seemed pretty good to me. Especially after the horror stories I've heard of London prices.

OP - you've answered your own question - s smiths and weather spoons are the two cheap pub chains in London.

They're not all the same either - dunno where in London you're thinking of going but the Cittie of York (Sam Smiths) in Holborn and the Crosse Keys (Weatherspoons) near monument are both alright. Google will have pictures if both...

The Sam Smiths one is a former church with little alcoves with tables/chairs in... the Weatherspoons is a former bank and is pretty big, very high ceilings, nice building.

The only "cheap" you'll find are "micro-breweries" that aren't up themselves. This is also, typically, an oxymoron but they do exist.

Euston Tap or the one at Russell Square-ish, The Marquis Cornwallis. Not too bad.

However, cheap pub in London? I wouldn't really both trying to look too hard.
