I've been trying to figure out the cheapest way to improve my hard drive performance and I thought raid 0 would be the way to go, but as always it's not that simple.

I had thought to just get to 1TB WD blacks, but doing some research I found that they are not really compatible with a raid setup and I would have to get the raid edition (RE) which are over twice the price and so out of my price range despite the 2TB storage space. I could get the 500 GB WD RE, but there is only one in stock and 500GB is less than I would prefer if there are any other options.

How about seagates? Do they support raid setup?

Also, how would a single velociraptor compare to two WD RE (or seagates) in raid 0?

i use 2 velociraptors in raid 0 and id say the boot time is quite a lot faster, and writing time is up about 50% when copying across blu rays, its generally snappier but i doubt no where near ssd territory..i have a lot of start up programs so it made a difference to me
