Grow up. You know what I mean!
Where do I bulk buy (several hundred at a time perhaps?) screws from. I mean m# nuts and bolts. Amazon and Ali-express will do things like sell me 20 M3 screws for about six or seven pounds. Which makes me think that I'm a chump who doesn't know where to order screws from.

I'm in the UK. Probably should have opened with that.

Have a check on screwfix pricing.
Yeah I mean looking to buy, say, 100 heat-set inserts and they'll sell me four (FOUR) for 2.99

Screwfix is good generally, Zoro is another good one in the UK if you don't need to pick them up the same day, can be a bit cheaper than screwfix in my experience.

You should expect to pay less than a quarter of the price you see on ebay or amazon for stuff like that from proper trade suppliers.

For example i'd expect to pay no more than about 20p per M8 bolt etc, less than 1p per washer and maybe 6 or 7p for the nut if you're not wanting anything fancy.

for normal, day to day screws that you need in a hurry screwfix can't really be beaten, and toolstation is pretty good (I've got loads of boxes of their gold/twin thread screws in the garage in everything from m3 12mm up to about 150mm size 10's or something).

As armageus says ironmongery direct is good if you need something a little different or don't mind waiting a day or two for it, as opposed to being able to pick it up in 15 minutes.

Do you have a BAPP near you? https://www.bapp.co.uk/

I'm the opposite to you, I normally only ever need a small amount of screws and at my local BAPP store the guy will give us a slack handful for like a quid. But they will also so do bulk orders like any of the other fastener suppliers.
