Reading the above reminded me, if there is a farm/agricultural supply place near your they can often do quite good prices on fixings and fittings, there is one near me where they do all sorts and IIRC for the smaller stuff it's usually a case of you pick up a bag and create what is effectively a high iron content pick and mix, complete with the guys at the counter weighing your bag to work out the price.

Last time I needed a few locking washers I think I paid pennies for a couple of dozen.

I'm the opposite to you, I normally only ever need a small amount of screws and at my local BAPP store the guy will give us a slack handful for like a quid. But they will also so do bulk orders like any of the other fastener suppliers.

I like bulk ordering everything. In the states I pick up one of those massive 1000 packs of paracetamol and ibuprofen; so then I never have to worry about buying those things again.

It's a false economy buying the really cheap fasteners because they can break and cost more time getting them out.

Mid range bulk boxes from Screwfix are decent.
