Hi Guys,

So I have ongoing issues with weird sounds coming through headsets on my PC. I changed the PSU thinking it was that but didn't help. Quite sure it's my motherboard as it's a cheap z68 and many years old now. I can't really find any decent cheap Z77 boards to replace it with so I'm looking at other options.

I've tested several different headsets, including USB and 3.5MM. Also some that came with their own usb sound cards. All exhibit varying sound issues, particularly when volume is high. I've tested the same headsets on my partners PC and the sound issues are barely noticeable if at all.

So I've already dumped £90 on a top end PSU with great components hoping that would resolve the issue to no avail. I'm now looking for other options.

Would this ( EDITED LINK OUT ) work? Would it negatively impact sound quality?

Or should I look for a PCI-E Sound Card?

Cheers

I'd try a ground loop isolator first, like the one you have linked. If you get no joy, then a sound card is probably the next thing to try.

An isolator should not affect sound quality.
