My nephew is 9 and has:

Intel i7 860 2.8Ghz
4GB RAM
AMD 6870

That card doesn't support the Raptr game recording/streaming though.

What would be the best upgrade to allow him to record for Youtube? I know they do those separate recording devices but they are about £100

Would a 2nd hand 7870 do the job? Do they work with the Raptr recording?

Edit: He only really plays things like Minecraft, Terraria etc.

I guess budget would be £100ish so AMD 280/285 are out of the question.

Recording / streaming is more a drain on the CPU than the GPU.

They could use OBS? It's not that easy to set up but once it's done it's just one button to start / stop.

depends how you stream with shadowplay you use the gpu and amd has a similar version but i forgot what its called which also uses the gpu. However there is software such as x-split and OBS which uses the cpu however can be slightly demanding for the cpu when running a game also.
