I am looking for a cheap upgrade from my Q6600

I have decided on this little bundle, but unsure if I am going sideways rather than upwards?

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £113.99
1 x ASRock 990FX Extreme3 AMD 990FX (Socket AM3+) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £90.98
1 x Corsair Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler £78.95

Or should I just bite the bullet and pay the extra £100 for this little lot?

The intel will be a huge upgrade my friend has the q6600 and my 3570k beats it hands (even before i OC'ed it) down and yours is is the newer version so :) and that gigabyte board is a good choice because of the UK RMA

Depends what you're using it for.
If gaming is second priority, go for the FX8320, if gaming is your main priority, go for the i5 4670K bundle.

The FX8320 is much better bang/buck however.

The 8320 is great value for money I would go with that. It trades blows with the 4670k easily. Also I would rather get a good air cooler though, quieter and more reliable.

Its going to be a gaming rig, with some office work thrown in as well.

I thought about the AMD as a cheaper option for now, but am now thinking it might be false economy as I'll want to build upon the new parts in time :)

I went from Q6600 to..

i5 2500k
z68 motherboard
16gb ddr3

It was £350, around a year ago I think. Awesome upgrade.

I'd get the 8320 - great value especially when you overclock it slightly to match a 8350. In your shoes I'd pocket the £100 that would be saved. I'd personally avoid a Asrock board though judging by other peoples opinions/reviews but I personally have no experiance with them so my thoughts may be worthless:p
