If the amount of ram is enough it will be faster, if it needs to use system ram it will be slower.manoz said:Question. Would this outperform a 1900xt 512mb at 1680x1050 res or be about the same?
I doubt that was just the ram causing that.Nelly said:If you play 2 games at once like I do i.e 2 x everquest (2 characters) using a graphics card with a X800XT PE 256MB you eventually run out of card memory & the graphics pixels go white & the game crashes.
When I upgraded to the HIS X1900 XT-X ICEQ3 512MB card the problem was solvedso yes there is a case for more graphics card ram & with more graphics intensive games 256mb cards will become obselete for future gaming in my opinion.
Aye its kind of difficult to really know what caused it, the only thing I upgraded was the graphics card, maybe it was down to the amount of pixel shaders or something?PinkFloyd said:I doubt that was just the ram causing that.
Its probably the fact you were running 2 games at once was just too much for the much weaker card, the X800.
If it was a X1900 256MB you were using before than I may have accepted that!
Nope, the DDR4 card was quicker, just the performance boost wasn't worth the price increase.simonnance said:IIRC the DDR4 on the X1950XTX makes it actually slower?
