I wanted to do a PC upgrade last October 2020, and was put on a waiting list for a RTX3080 from a PC company after paying the full price. After about 10 weeks I suddenly received a full refund! So that was knocked on the head! I received an email alert last weekend from ****** that a Founders RTX3080 was for sale. Very quickly within seconds I went on ****** to buy it. It was already sold! I could have not responded any quicker. Last October the price of a RTX3080 was about £550, now you would be lucky to buy one for £1400, or an RTX3090 for £2000! A staggering price hike of about 140%. And now, I have heard news that the price of GPU's from AMD and Nvidia are set to rise! But you still cant get them? The whole situation is totally out of control! Cheaper to buy a Gold Bar than a GPU! A much better investment.

The cheapest the 3080 has ever been is £649, so not quite £500. lol...

Covid + Crypto are the main culprits behind the GPU shortages, anything that does go up for sale is usually snatched up by bots/scalpers.

Mind you, I don't think I'd normally buy a GPU as an investment. Although I suppose that's exactly what people mining crypto are currently doing.

Just because a gold bar is cheaper does not necessarily make it a better investment. I haven't checked, but I'm going to assume profit from buying a 3080FE at £649 and then selling on yields a better return than a gold bar over the past 6 months.

I believe the msi ventus non oc was £620 at one point shortly after launch, not on here as OCUK only stocked the OC one for £650. They were all £720 and up very shortly after though

interesting.
i found a website that have 5
ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING
for 700£ i dont need it wondering how long they will be in stock.

It's definitely the worst of the bunch, worse than the FE by design, even worse than the oc which is still considered a bad choice. I might be wrong but it was definitely less than £650, i'm trying to find the price history but coming up blank

I tell ye wat it';s seriously tempting to flog my 3080FE for over 1k, especially with a kebabba on the way, but I do like to play Minecraft and FS2020.

Why would you sell your gpu for a kebab?

How can a kebab ever compete with this
