Currently using a 55" but I find when playing some game I have to pull the TV closer. Obviously this makes the living room look naff.

So I'm looking for 75" TV that will support what the PS5 has to offer and has inbuilt freeview, netflix and YouTube.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I suppose depends what your budget is. IMO would go for say a 65" OLED then bottom of barrel 75".

That said the LG GX 77" can be had for £2k brand new: https://www.johnlewis.com/lg-oled77...w0AWI0&irgwc=1&tmcampid=99&s_afcid=af_2099860

That is a real decent price for a 77" OLED with amazing gaming features, VRR for your PS5, ALLM, Black Frame insertion if you use that and so on. not to mention all the typical OLED goodness (fast response, blacks etc) Also has most apps, Netflix, youtube, though I think Freeview play I think for that particular generation is missing.

I'd say my budget is around £1200, think I can sell my current Samsung for around £300ish

Definitely an age thing is this.

I agree :/

I'm not sure it is. My eyesight is excellent (with my glasses or contacts on/ in), but in some games stuff is just a bit small when aiming. Mainly with very large crosshairs so hard to see inside the crosshairs if that makes sense. I realise distance matters too and in my case that's around 4-4.5m. Also I realise any spelling mistakes here are going to result in some **** taking:cry:.

A bad player will always blame his screen, controller, chair, or whatever.

It's a well known fact that people become worse players as they get older though. Sight does deteriorate. Reaction time gets longer, no matter what one does, everyone slows down.
Eventually though, most people lose interest in gaming. Maybe in their late 20s, 30s, or more commonly 40s, so eventually it doesn't matter.

What's it like playing PC games at desk viewing distances?

I have a 35inch ultra wide screen on my PC desk so it's perfectly fine. I play seige on PC because I can see a lot more clearer than on my ps5 sat on the sofa about 7 feet away

Seen an OLED LG for £1200 which has HDMI 2.1 and 120hz adaptive refresh rate

I get that, but my last sight test I could see the smallest text they had. Maybe I'm trying to snipe touch in games:p.

Good Afternoon,
I am about to turn 70 and have been into gaming and building computers for a long time. I have a Playstation 5, XBox Series X and a high end computer and I use them all but not at the same time. I wear glasses when computing but do not need them for the consules. Due to the problems we have had over the past two years I have not upgraded my computer due to the massive price rises since I purchased the RTX 3090. I use the consules through my LG C1 55 inch tv with no problems.

Well you're one of very few at your age playing modern consoles. The vast majority of people naturally lose interest in gaming at a much younger age because they've seen it all before. Most of my age group, including me, somewhere in the mid 40s's to mid 50's (nod nod) still play games from time to time, but it's mainly just to pass a little bit of time away rather than getting much fun and excitement from it. And I couldn't care if I win or lose.

Yup. Nothing worth having in the 2021 though and the 2022 (better panel) is still full price.

77 inch oled, vrr, 120hz, eARC etc. for 2k with a 5 year warranty is pretty good going.

If you've got hdmi 2.1, not sure what difference there is beyond incremental ones.

Just software updates and minor image processing improvements

The 2022 is different. Brighter panel. But big money

The oled is a nice TV but since you're upgrading for size reasons I'd have a hard time getting that over the 75" X90J which is only about ~£120 more. Then again, I see now you've said the distance is about 7 feet, which is actually quite good for 65". I would say the final decision would be made depending on lighting conditions in the room and at what time you're using it (bright/day time favouring the Sony, and vice versa).
