Hi all,

looking to get me little cousins online... Could anyone recommend or advise what are the best / cheapest deals at the mo..

Thanks

do you want best or cheap.. cant have both these days :(

UKSFN - Seem good but big influx of customers could be bad and dont own the network they use IIRC

AOL - Cheap, fast, but CS suck

Zen - CS Good, fast, but expensive

SKY - Cheap if got sat, but not such good CS

Ntl - Only if in cable area, Billing CS Suck

Eclipse - Cheapish and slow/bad mail black outs and slow CS replys

Tiscalli - Cheap but no downloading or else!

I have a full sky TV package and I get there broadband for £10 month, I think if you don't have the TV package it's £17 a month.

The bad thing I've noticed about Sky is there very very bad customer support.

Sky are new to broadband.. i wouldnt go with them ive heard a fair few things about them, im with Demon

19.99 a month, 8mb, perfect for downloading, surfing, gaming, its been up 100% sinse the stableisation date was reached.

ADSL, im even running a wireless router off the connection and the connection is perfect, i do not feel like i am being lagged down by the wireless either, seems to work perfect, (touch wood *taps head*).

I compared this ISP to others that were recommended by friends, family, forums... i even went onto the broadband guide and did a few comparisons and this was the best i could find.

I would deffo recommend who i have...

Let me know how you get on.

Demon Home 8000

(hope i am allowed to post this link)

Sorry... Yep it's ADSL I'm after... and it just has to be cheap...

It'll only be used by kids for surfing and MSN etc... lol

The best i've found so far is Tiscali.

It's 1Mb - £9.99 for first 3 months and then £12.99 - But you get a free modem and free connection - And you even get free UK calls on the weekends.

The next cheapest was ukonline - They're £9.99 a month - But £25 connection plus no modem...

Let us know what else is out there.... thanks

Actually - Virgin.net is offering an even better deal!

Up to 1 Mbps broadband
3 GB monthly download allowance
Free activation and modem
Free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines
12 month contract
£9.99 per month

You are aware the values in that screenshot are going to both be particular to your line and have nothing to do with Demon, right?

If they're happy to be within a 3GB a month limit, there's dozens of ISPs. thinkbroadband (AKA ADSLguide) is your friend.
The difference between paying the activation fee and getting it free is if you pay it, you'll probably only be tied for a month whereas if it's free you're almost certainly stuck for a year (if not more).

i saw in your other thread that you had a few teething problems though?
Yah for the 1st 7-8 days i had the off drop outs, but i think that was due to an error on the downstairs BT lins, sy tv was sending all the lines dodgy for some reason, once my dad removed the downstairs filter it was sorted.

I have a line fitted into my wall in my room and the routers plugged into that and i did have teething problems but now its perfect, sinse the 10 days stableisation date was reached its been [erfect, no faults at all with it :)

Also i only had teething problems because the lines were never ADSL enabled, so they were getting enabled when i moved in.

Would deffo recommend though.

Demon CS is outsourced to a non UK call centre so good luck with getting much in the way of help, the only way to get a UK based reply for me at least involved filling out small claims court forms and suddenly they decided that the 3 months to reply to an email and arrange a call back was quite poor not to mention debiting a further 14 months sub's was a bad idea, i'm still waiting for them to refund my costs though and i'm not pulling the claim till they do.
