Horticultural potting grit or similar.

It's £6 for 20kg at B&Q.

B&M have bags for £3.99 but it doesn't say the weight.

Anyone know if these are similarly 20kg bags?

I just buy bags of perlite or vermiculite as it has better properties than grit, especially for potted items.

Yeah more expensive in larger quantities though.

True. Have to weight up the pros/cons of each and over the longer term "maintenance" including watering etc (vermiculite retains water like a sponge and then releases it slowly back into the soil)

All I'm doing is a large patio bed, about 1 cubic meter volume in total.

Have the topsoil (bulk bag), have the compost (£5 per 50 litre bag) and now need a large volume of grit as I'm planting Mediterranean style plants in it so can't be too rich or soggy.

B&Q is £6 per 20kg, B&M is £3.99 but the bags don't specify the weight.

I'm mixing in at least 5 bags of grit.

Just looking for best value for money per kg.

You could always contact the supplier - presumably it's this https://kelkay.com/product/horticultural-potting-grit/

Google AI Seems to think 4kg though

Not much info but the few sites I can see all indicate that the Kelkay Potting Grit in Handy Pack size is 4kg
