Hi guys, ive just discovered the beautiful world of plex. I have it installed on my laptop, and its great, talks to my LG smart TV perfectly, and i like that it downloads all the metadata and stuff for movies. Thing is i have to have the laptop on all the time.

I've been looking for a NAS drive recently hoping that would do the job, but haven't come across a cheap one that can do plex.

The NAS i have shortlisted is the D-Link 320L, because it seems pretty cheap, only £50, but it unfortunately doesn't have plex, i don't think. Is there a similar app/program that could be installed on it that would give me a similar thing to plex, and talk to my LG smart TV?

I have some SATA hard drives ready, the data on the NAS won't be important anyway, just purely for movies really, so i think i could get away with a barebones system and just use an old 750GB drive from my desktop.

Could you guys help? Cheers

A HP Microserver with Xpenology installed will fit the bill nicely. I'm not sure if the cashback deal is still on but if so then it'll be about 100 notes. Plex does require some horsepower to work smoothly so cheap NASs are a false economy.
