have a 4850 and was thinking of adding an nvidia card as a secondary just for CUDA (not physx specifically).

would this work? if so, which card is cheapest?

yeah, says cuda in the desc. ta mate :)

anyone able to confirm it though? sometimes these descriptions have mistakes due to copying/ pasting etc. i'd hate to buy it and not be sure if i can't get it working - might be due to me, or the card and i wouldnt be sure

I think you may have to wait til W7, as I could be wrong, but Windows Vista/XP don't allow you to install 2 conflicting video drivers from different manufacturers for use at once; whereas I believe W7 does away with that limitation (I could be wrong).

Unless you need CUDA for development reasons or NEED a program that runs on it; I wouldn't bother.

i do a lot of video stuff and neuron 2's tools are very useful. he's done some that support CUDA but says no chance for stream :(

Yeah, you'll have to run XP or W7 if you want to run two different company's video cards in your system at once.

I wouldn't go for anything less than a 9600GT/8800GT for CUDA personally.

Sorry to high-jack but i Have a "BFG GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3"
Can I use a 2nd card for for CUDA and physx?
and will i need to?
I have....
I7 920
GTX 295 runing a 32" 1080p tv
Asus P6T Deluxe
OCZ Vertex Series 120GB

I don't know so can you help?

i've ordered that gts250 - i want to try it as a 2ndry card just for CUDA. I'm going to test it to see if it can be made to work with an ATi card as a pri

id be interested in you reporting back on that one. I'm trying to get two different nvidia cards to play nicely together (9600 and 280) and the different chipset is causing issues, Id love to know if ati + nvidia works better

well, got this card today. installed it and had a flash of light and then smoke from the connector on the card.

the end of the connector that plugs into the gpu is fused. the plastic all along the cable is melted, almost burnt my hand on the cable! looks like the connector on the card is loose.

i've put my ati 4850 back in and alls fine thankfully. mailed OCUK asking for a refund, not RMA. not trusting that happening again - could take my mobo along with it :( no cuda for me

Thats a strange thing to happen. Have you tried contacting the sales support to find out why it would do that?
