I am getting fed up with the (lack of) port forwarding on my BeBox. I want a cheap router than will work with BE internet and has port forwarding that actually works.
The DG834G and its variants are popular for a reason. You can pick one up second hand cheap as chips, and on the whole they're very good replacements for tacky ISP rubbish.
I have a V5 that works well, apparantly the V4 is the one to have though, older but they have a better chipset and the ability to tweak some magical thing that can boost your speedage.
Right just bought a dg834gt on the 'bay - was outbid by 3p last night but got it for quite a bit cheaper this morning it is sky branded but unlocked. Can't wait! Does it work with Be straight away (I have a static IP) or do I have to put my BeBox into bridge mode?
You have to justify statements like that, would you care to elaborate for us all? I was thinking of getting one on the cheap, used them at work loads and it'll be a good replacement for my parents BT homehub. Or so I thought?
they are so old..........................they were well know for being pants 5-6 ago when i had one..................Maybe they are different now then................Needed constant reboots so much that apps were written to reboot them................They run or did run hot.............wireless was flaky to say the least....
Anyone who had one then will tell you
iif they have changed since then, then i apologise............As for work you certainly shound not be using one there unless there is like only 4 of your or something.................Get a draytek.....
The original firmware was pants, but, as time has progressed they have turned into a hidden gem (dg834gt). Even more of a gem, with the dg team custom firmware.
