I have a Lian-Li PC7 and its currently full with 3 drives

160Gb 16mb - OS and programs - 90Gb free
320Gb - Music and storage - 159Gb free
500Gb - Storage - 42Gb free

I'd like a nice boost in space, I dont want to change my C drive to a bigger one as I dont use this space incase I have to format, I wont lose much.

750Gb+ drives are expensive so upgrading the 320 to a 500 hardly seems worthwhile.

NAS enclosures look nice but too expensive.

Only thing I can think of is to hand another 500Gb drive into the floppy space, I think it will fit.

Any better suggestions or have I cracked it with the last one?

Thanks

how many optical drive bays have you got free, and is soemthing like a Icy Dock MB-453SPF 3-Bay Internal SATA Drive Enclosure an option?

external.

or just get one of those single 5.25" to 3whatevers" caddys... i have a silentmaxx one, so u can slot the thing into the 5.25" bay. Screw bungees :P

partition it then. if you buy a new drive it will undoubtedly be the fastest of the drives you own. so spilt it. if its a 500gb, go 160gb c: 340gb d: or something. that way your os is on the fastest drive and anything on the second partition wont be affected by formatting c:

Agree with james.miller - create a 'windows' partition (e.g. 80GB-100GB) on the new drive. Remove the old 160GB.

I have a lian-li pc60 here stuffed with drives.

two in the hard drive cage
one in the floppy bay
one in a 5 1/4 bay using adaptor brackets

I might even lob another in using another set of brackets.

The LaCie external 1TB is £140. OcUK dont stock this so presumably im allowed to say this?

Remove if not

Ive got the 500gb version and its great. A lot faster than i expected it to be for a usb drive (faster than my had drive in fact!)

edit - or just get two 500s. Same price anyway
