Startign the preparations for gettign 965p or p35, wich means i need to get rid of at least 1 IDE drive& replace with SATA, I was thinking of my oldest drive: a 160 gb hitachi 2mb cache ide 100 drive to be replaced with a 500gb, ideally i want a fast, reliable drive, wich can handle uptime of 12 hours a day average, sometimes allnighters, but i don't want it to be too expensive, wich one to go for?

Was looking @ WD, Hitachi and Seagate, but don't know wich one to choose...

Atm i have 5 hdd's 3 sata 2 ide (and 1 ide dvdrw), The other ide drive is my os drive : WD caviar 250 gb 2500JB Ata 100 8 mb cahce...

Samsung due to low noise and cheaper prices! :)

Plus the lower failure rate in comparison to Seagate! :o

Had a samsung for like 2 months didnt like it:
Slow
Very noisy seek, a lot noisier as 7200.10 seagate, infact noisiest seek out of all my 5 hdd's but the maxtor...

I care about noise yes, but not about spin noise, it can sound like a jet if it wants to since my pc sounds like a jet anyhow with the noisy 80mm fans I have... But it must have a silent seek though, them sammies tick/click very loud when working, don't want another heavy seeker in my pc...

Leaning to WD AAKS so far...
