My 2000 Corsa C failed the MOT because the exhaust was to loud and wearing out. I went straight down to another garage where they fit exhausts etc. Long story short i had a new exhaust fitted. But when i got home the check engine light is on. I disconnected the battery which worked but it came back on after a few hours. My dad said it might need an oil change?

Any advice is welcome please. Im thinking i should go back to the dealer who fitted the new exhaust and tell him about the problem?

More likely to be the lambda sensor considering your exhaust just got replaced I would have thought. Take it back to the garage and get the code read if you can I'd suggest, this will at least tell you what it thinks is wrong.

Did you previously have no cat and it's now back on?

Anyway it sounds very likely it'll be a lambda, if the car drives ok and if it has one then probably the post cat sensor. Should be cheap(ish) and easy to sort just get the codes read
