Check for dead Pixels

How do i check for dead pixels etc?

I have seen the tools but are the dead pixels obvious - will i spot them easily?

I use, UDPixel, http://udpix.free.fr/

Its very small and will let you check for them very easily indeed.

I couldn't see anything when i ran it so i must have no dodgy pixels

But are they easy to spot - stand out?

Depends what resolution your screen is, the higher resolution the harder they will be to spot. As you can appreciate pixels are small so look closely, if you can't see any, don't worry

You'd notice them in the UDPixel colour screens if they where there....

Why would resolution make a difference? The pixel is the same size, no matter what resolution you use.


Dead pixels are usually black (or white), so will show up best on a black or white background. Stuck pixels are usually red green or blue (can also be a sub colour) and show up best on coloured backgrounds.

Well it is 1680x1050 and i haven't noticed anything so i suppose thats good

Dead pixels are much rarer these days, especially on good quality monitors. Just relax, and enjoy it!

The lower the dot pitch the smaller the pixels. So yes, technically its not just the resolution that counts, its the resolution and screen size.
