Check iPhone Unlocked

I want to check is the OH iPhone unocked. (The operator has told us they have unlocked it).

When I insert a different sim in the phone it try to reset it self. I don't want to use the other network sim. Just test it. Can I not do this with an iPhone without it resetting?

To complete the unlock process, you have to use a SIM card from another network but as far as I'm aware it shouldn't trigger a reset of the phone.

If you don't do it, it will remain as a locked phone even though the network has contacted apple to get the phone put on the list of unlocked iPhones.
