Hello everyone, I am about to orders these components and since this will be my first self build PC I wanted to get some feedback if what I chose I... chose good.. ?

  • Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11227-00-40G)
  • Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
  • Asus Maximus VII Ranger Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
  • Bitfenix Colossus Venom Green LED Big Tower Windowed Case - Black
  • Corsair Hydro H110 280mm High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060014-WW)
  • Samsung 250GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD250BW)
  • Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 850W
  • Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red (HX24C11BRK2/8-OC) (Upgrading later)
  • Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD

Will the PSU do it's work? Is it not overpowered?
Do you think the h110 will do it's work with cooling my 4790K will I have some space for OC?

Anything else I should get as well? Maybe there is something I didn't think about?

EDIT: I am sort of on the line of my budget with this, so trying not to go much higher then the current price ;)

Thank you,-

HI,

That looks pretty nice.

I can see a bit of a problem though.

The H110 doesn't fit in the case you have selected.

I think you should change the case, for two reasons (one being the cooler). The second being it doesn't go with your colour scheme (black and red)..

Get the NZXT H440 instead.

YOUR BASKET
1 x NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case - Black £94.99
Total : £104.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Also Stick with 8gb of RAM (please) 16GB for Gaming is MASSIVE overkill.

As doomedspeed said 8 gig of ram is enough I have 16 (bought it when it was really cheap) and rarely use over 6 gig of it when gaming.

The psu could go down to a 650 or 750 unless you planning to go Xfire later and the H110 will give you plenty of headroom to overclock the chip.

Otherwise very nice build :)

It has red and green LED colour options actually.

@OP just change the cooler to a 240mm style such as Antec 1220, H100 etc.

You can even fit a H105 in there and that has a thicker radiator than normal.

From what I read on the BitFenix site, the Red Windowed verison has a different product code, which OCUK have but out of stock.

I thought it was only the non-windowed that had green and red on the same case?

Am I wrong? :)

Possibly.

I dont think OcUK should have the Venom name in one of their product descriptions.

The Colossus Venom has red+green options.

The Colossus window comes in red+black, white+blue, green+black options.

Thanks for pointing out the compatibility issue, Doomedspeed! Would have missed that!

You get the red/green Collosus version for +£20, the windowed versions have single LED colour. Windowed Red case was out of stock and the windowless versions are a wee bit too shiny for me ;)

I think I will simply upgrade to the Obsidian 750D for an extra fiver :) Seems it has plenty of room for water cooling and is a solid case in every other aspect as well..

No Worries.

Very true.

The 750D is a great case, though the H440 I linked too is also VERY well review and fit your colour scheme. None are bad choices. :)
