Check my build (please)

I don't mind spending the extra on a mobo to future proof myself a bit, I may overclock, its just not something I feel the need to do straight away. Taken your advisement on the fans, I can always add them anyway, also have an old tower I can harvest fans from.

You'll also note the Asus mobo has more fan headers, the MSI only has a single header for a SYS fan. The devil is in the details as they say ;)

Definitely OC the 7870LE, it will trade blows with a stock 7950 when you do that :) The SSD is ok but like I said I'm not keen on sandforce SSDs. If you can't wait on the Samsung Evo I'd look at the Toshiba myself.

Never hurts to talk things through. A build log with pics would be awesome, then we can help you through the build and obviously your post count will increase. Once you hit the magic 100 you could well lose the P&P on future orders :D

I could also collect from store to save a few quid, only live about 2 miles away.

Now you tell me LOL

looks good.

Maybe add an H80 from pre-order

You can ask the guys down at the shop when they may be expecting them in.

Jealous, Wanna Swap? :)

On the RAM, no problem here, but if it was later put in another system it could be an issue, so I just generally avoid high profile RAM.

Yeah that's a lot of nice kit :)

In my spec I did use a fair bit of stuff on pre-order. That's because Pre-order prices tend to be lower than when the kit comes into stock. The samsung EVO SSD is what I would order even if I had to wait a little bit. You might have noticed the "Case King" Prodigy was cheaper and you can get the windowed version of it for the same price as the bog standard Prodigy.

I'll also point out there is a trial of Windows 8 you can use for free for 3 months. Saves you cash now by using it and of course should you hate Win 8, you could then buy Windows 7 no harm done :)

Yeah, noticed that about the preorder stuff pricing. Thanks for the heads up about the Windows 8 trial. I already use 7 at work and I'm not adverse to Windows 8, i'll be using Steam Big Picture mode most of the time anyway. I'm probably best sticking with the black case anyway, blends in much better underneath a tv imo. Thanks for all your help, just the wife to convince now.

Show her the case first.. Women like cute things (dogs wearing little hats) and the prodigy is cute, right? :D

If we did that we'd all end up with pink cases lol

I quite like the Case King Ann. Prodigy being black with gold accents. To get a window too for the same price as the normal Prodigy is nice but all it really does is show off the GPU
