Morning all,

I've put a diet together for myself. It's within budget and is easy enough for me to prepare. I'm no cook so simplicity is a must.

My goals are to gain muscle mass. It goes as follows.

8:30am

3x Large Eggs Scrambled

10:30am

300g Low Fat Cottage Cheese
Banana
1 Pint Semi Skimmed Milk

12:30pm

Tin of Tuna in Brine
3x Large Boiled Eggs
Clementine

3:00pm

50g Soya Beans
1 Pint Semi Skimmed Milk

6:00pm

Evening Meal, varies a lot. Whatever my family is having. Sometimes high in meat and veg, other times Pizza, Chips, other stuff that isn't so great for you.

8:30pm

Post workout Protein Shake
1 Pint of Full Fat Milk

Thanks for reading, comments please.

Pretty rubbish to be honest. Looks about right in terms of calories, but you're lacking a lot of carbs and are probably going OTT with protein and probably the milk in particular. There's also a big lack of veg and any unsaturated fats in there. Try and get some things like brown pasta/rice in there as well as trying to have a ton of green veg with most meals. Nuts and EVOO will give you some good fats as well. Don't be scared of slow digesting carbs!

Ideally you will stay away from family meals if they're going to be things like pizza and chips, but if not just try to adjust the rest of your diet to make the best of it.

Have a look at the sticky if you haven't already as there's loads of tips on diet in there. You can also use dailyburn.com to keep track of what you're putting into you if you find it helps.

Get some porridge down you for breakfast and some brown rice or pasta with the tuna for lunch. And then some greens as clum says.

Are you taking your PWO protein shake with the full fat milk? Its usually better to take it with water for faster absorption into the body

I used to have porridge instead of scrambled egg but was adviced to start the day with some protein. Having pasta with tuna and 3 eggs just seems too much, unless I have a small amount of pasta.

I take the protein shake with water as like you say it absorbs faster, I then have the pint of milk before bed.

Milk should only be used with your protein shake if you're going a long time without food [like 7 hours] as that's how long it takes to digest the protein. I have it in the morning, as i go without the mid-morning snack due to me being busy at work, therefore i don't have to worry about getting protein into my diet, as the milk protein is doing the job for me by slowly releasing the protein, but if you need protein asap, [like before or after a workout] then you're best off taking it with water.

You could buy MyProtein's Total Milk and Whey, provides you with a slow and fast protein release, it's what i use.

PS: Throw in two slices of wholemeal bread with your breakfast and your lunch, rid the eggs from your lunch as the tuna provides you with enough protein, you don't need milk with cottage cheese and stick to 200ml of semi-skimmed milk.
