I'm quite badly out of the loop regarding hardware, so I'd appreciate any feedback on the following. The plan is to use my old graphics card (8800GT) for a few months to spread the cost a bit, then upgrade to something faster.

The case is the Silverstone SUGO SG06 with the provided 450W power supply and probably a 1600rpm scythe fan that I've got going spare.

Gigabyte SKT-1155 H61N-USB3

2x4gb of 1333mhz Corsair
128GB Crucial M4 SSD
i5 2400 or similar

I'll probably want a heatsink, but the plan is to wait and see how loud the stock fan is first. Overclocking is basically a no-go on the above spec, which does feel like a mistake. I'm having some trouble finding a m-itx board that would let me overclock though, and I'm not sure the price/performance is worth it.

Otherwise, ivy bridge will presumably turn up fairly soon. My hunch is that this isn't worth waiting for, but I'd be interested if you think otherwise.

Many thanks,

Jon

Cheers stulid (that's a very quick promotion to underboss! Nicely done)

Sadly one is out of stock, one is preorder. I thought Zotac were famous for terrible quality control, pci-e slots that only worth with graphics cards and so forth. Perhaps they've pulled their act together?

Asrock Z77E-ITX

Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe

Both of these are due early next month (apparently)
The Asus is up for pre order for ~£145, the Asrock ~£110.
Peeps in the States already have the Asrock and it's clocking their SB cpu's to 4.6ghz quite happily.

A review of the Asus states in the conclusion it got his i5 3570k to 4.6ghz with little fuss.

Z68 ITX boards are pants Jon, all of them. Steer well clear matey.

No manufacturer has made a good one worth buying.
Most of the lads into sff on here have either used a cheaper board on H61 or H67 and waitied it out for the above to come out or moved up to mATX with the lack of a Z68 board worth buying.

And lastly yes, Zotac are still garbage when it comes to mITX boards.

Cheers Legion, stulid. I'm going to remain wary of Zotac, and that's enough of a caution to put me off Z68. I think I'll save the £50 on the board. This will also stop me overclocking the system, which will save me much time. I must have spent/wasted hundreds of hours on my X58 box.

I've gone with the i5 2320 for the less-than-brilliant reason that 3ghz is a round number and the cheap H61 gigabyte in the OP. It wont be a particularly configurable system, but four cores at 3ghz and a decent SSD cant go far wrong.

Thanks guys.
