Maxtor Diamondmax 21 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM £30.54
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) £117.49

Microsoft OEM Windows XP Media Centre 2005 Edition - 1 Pack £77.99

Total £694.72

What you think?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.33GHz old tech, get an E7200 for less or an E8200 for a bit more

Maxtor Diamondmax prone to failure, a nice samsung drive would be a wiser choice

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 old tech, not as good as an 8800GT, but personally I'd get neither for now, and wait a month until the new cards are out

I dont wana go over the prices of what ive got, i originally said 400-500 but to be honest, for what i want that price is more realistic..

Can you help the search for better at the same price? Im pretty noobish now, aint done this in years lol.

I edited in alternative CPUs, and 8800GT cards can be had for ~£105

are the HDDs for a RAID0 setup?

I'd personally go for:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £94.99
(£111.61)

Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD502IJ) £39.99
(£46.99)

Asus P5K Pro Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £69.99
(£82.24)

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS Extreme 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £119.99
(£140.99)

Newer and slightly better alround CPU, better chipset for the Mobo , 2 hdd in raid are very slightly better than just one and a better GPU.

Just my 2 cents :)

don't get an 8800GS, that's a different card altogether

I'd go for the OcUK value one, you should be able to overclock it to the same speeds as the other cards yourself.

I don't understand why you want 2 HDDs though still.

One for personal data, pics, files, games like css, bf2, quake 4 insted of saving them to the other HD.

whilst the main HD holds the os and all the things i install. I dont like partitioning so this is easier.

Deal of the weeks wont really do me tbh as im buying weekly over 3-4 weeks..

Ah okay, thanks, I was well curious then :p

4gb is an investment.

Plus im doing gaming.

4gb of DDR2 isn't really an investment, it's not long before DDR3 is the one everyone uses. It is worth using 4gb though, even though you are on a 32 bit OS, and so it won't see all of it.

I do think that it's a better idea to get 800mhz RAM though, it'd be worth the pennies.

Meh, depends how much more to be honest, i mean 700 is a lot of money, its going to take my wage every week for a few weeks lol atleast 4.

580 to get it up and running, 120 there after, thats without the little extras ill want..

4gb will make my system run without any bloody issues compared to my laptop!!! I cant stand waiting around, i move around the comp too fast for that..

What you recon to this? I actually think its crap due to the price/make..
