Check my spec please!

Hmm im unsure of what CPU Cooler to get now, I've heard that the TT Big Typhoon is difficult to install? I want my first build to be relatively easy :p (Which is understandable!) so what else could I get? That performs well and is quite easy to install. Thanks

I believe there's none, i.e. all are not 'easy' to install. Installing the heatsink isn't easy because of the amount of force/pressure you have to use, never know if its too much or too little & its always a case of the latter though it feels like too much  :( ;)

Hmm alright i'll stick with the big typhoon then, if the worst comes to the worst i'll have to use the measly stock cooler :o . Hopefully it won't happen though :D

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a nice measly stock cooler! :p

Isn't there?

Yeah, I know I'll probably get burned at the stake for saying this in the 'overclockers uk' forums, but I'd prefer to just build a fast PC and be happy with it rather than overclock and constantly worry about something breaking.

I am a compulsive worrier y'see!

Ah yes, I can just see the angry mob coming over the horizon now

Ah yeah thats understandable of course, but I want to atleast get my E6600 upto X6800 speeds :D. Get some more juice out of it, woohoo!

You not the only one m8 ;) I underclock mine :o

Still performs well even when watching DVDs, DivXs, etc. For that & other purposes like surfing, why have it at some crazy speed (noise)? Time when I really wish for more speed is when encoding & that's why I get excited about new stuff like Conroe not only because of overclockability but new improvements, lower TDP, etc making them fly without breaking sweat

hp7909, I noticed you have a separate partition for the page file. Does this improve performance?

Is there a reason you put it on a different physical drive to your system partition?

You know the stickies at the top of each Hardware sub-forum are quite useful ;)

Referring to this: Pagefile on a separate partition it feels slightly faster/responsive especially when a-lot of memory has to be used. But my other reason for having it separate is to keep XP partition smaller (not over 20GB - pagefile's about 2GB, separate partition means I can keep it static) & making backup up of that (XP) partition is easier/faster
