Hiya,

This is my first draft of my new PC;

Spec.jpg

I was thinking about the Coolermaster ATCS 840 that Apem recommended to me but it's not in stock at the moment.

The PSu I was thinking of that power cause I am planning on eventually getting two of those cards and running in cross fire. Would this be sufficient, can anyone see any reason two of said card wouldn't fit on the board within the case?

I've a spare 1tb sata drive I can use for the build, I have Win7 64bit already. I have a 23'' Dell HD screen and keyboard, mouse, speakers. I have an N class wireless card I can use at the mo and an optical drive I can salvage if need be.

I was looking at maybe taking the toxic ( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-274-SP ) over the 570, what do you think?

Thank you for any advice and time taken to reply guys. I do really appreciate you're assistance.

SLI;) but yes that PSU is sufficient.

Nope, it will fit.

Truth is I'm looking at a bundle because it's been soooo long since I've really done any overclocking. I kid you not, the last time I did was back in the Athlon days when AMD was king of the clocking!

I'd very much welcome a tastier alternative to the OC bundle, but I may be pestering folk for help later on! :P

Well overclocking a i5 2500K is simple because it has an unlocked multiplier, that just means you have to change the multiplier in the BIOS form 33X to 40X and bingo! instant 4GHz, then the higher you go the little bit more Vcore you have to add.

Buy the parts separately,

Ok, here's the current revision of the spec. I've got a HD, OS and optical drive.

Is the A70 worth the extra? Or do I get the same performance form the Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler?

Oh yeah, PSU seems OTT but thinking of getting another one of these cards for Cross fire. I read that card is easily clockable to like the 6970 speeds.

Personally I would get one thats part of the MilitaryII range so it has the better quality parts (capacitors etc) such as the GD55, or this Gigabyte board is on offer - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-360-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1990

The extra money is buying better components, more power phases for the CPU+RAM circuitry and this all leads to a better overclock.

the MSI Z68A G45 B3 is in the military class II range though

(unless overclockers have got it wrong and those two giant adverts saying military class II shouldnt be there)

also have a look at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-093-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=

the tranquilo and a50 will be fine to 4.6ghz, if you plan on pushing it further to 4.8 then the a70, venom x, d14, silverarrow etc will be better(the d14 and silverarrow are £50+).

can't tell you how the a70 and venom x match up as not seen a review with the 2 being compared.

oh and I have 2x 6950 toxic and both unlock :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that man. Has helped me out a lot!

Right I've decided against the HAF x and gone with the Coolermaster ATCS 840 (Which isn't in stock at the mo at OC'uk :( ) So what do you think of this current revision of the specs.

I changed the MObo to the Asus as I was reading it was better for overclocking
