£650 MAX for my mate, i got a spec and he decided to up the budget so im not sure what to get. hes a gamer so need to be aimed towards that type of pc

he needs

Monitor - 19" widescreen as they arnt much more than 17" normal tft.
keyboard - hes not fussed
mouse - gaming but cheap still
case
PSU
Mobo
CPU
RAM
Sound Card - good enough for games but within budget
GPU - best for budget as this is a gaming pc
DVD/CD Drive - might as well be re-writable
Hard Drive - 160gb will probably be enough
Windows xp

i think thats it, basically the case and everythin in it, monitor, keyboard and mouse

p.s. he doesnt live near me and he cant build it, do OcUK build em for a price? or anyone know anywhere that will. he wants to go to the purple shop but i steered him away :P

im not sure whether he can afford a low end intel core 2 duo, if you think hell be able to afford one after the price drop then please still post it.

This spec should be great for gaming, the cpu will overclock very well with the motherboard.

That's a very good setup!

It is but not got a gaming mouse, which cost £30 or more.

This is the best I came up with:

An extra tenner to get a razer deathadder - my weapon of choice ;)

Just a quickie;
I've got a Saitek 1600dpi Gaming Mouse, and it cost me in the region of £20 on a popular auction website, so if you've hit your budget and want a cheap gaming mouse, I'd recommend it.
