Right peeps, bought my son a Q9550 (REPLACED AGING [email protected] Vcore 1.3652v) for his brihtday found out he was going to replace CPU after xmass, would have giving him the money instead to put together towards a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core/mobo/ram or i5 750/mobo/ram but never mind his present build is -

PSU-HX 620

MOBO-GA-P35-DS3P (have read mobo can run various CPU's upto 3.6GHz overclocked OK)

[email protected] (Vcore 1.25v) ACF PRO 7 room ambient 20>22c TEMPS IDLE 35c>42c IBTEST load 54cc>57c

GFX Card-ATI 4850 675/4.400mhZ

RAM-OCZ 4x1GB 800MHz PC6400 PLAT XT (BIOS SET AT 1:1 4-4-4-15 / 2.1v)
HIT WALL AT FSB-413 (tried 414, 415, 416 5-5-5-15 ranging from 1.3v>1.4v. no joy [email protected] max.

MCH - 0.10v
FSB - 0.10v

So my son has £180+ to upgrade his mobo+ram, upgrade to Asus P5Q Deluxe P45 Intel775 better spec(PCIe 2.0 ETC) for overclocking Q9550 upto 4.0GHz + memory Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX. Plus sell his E6750/GA-P35-DS3P/ocz 800MHz PC6400 PLAT XT DDR2 to pay for a better CPU cooler, what do you think any comments appreciated.

Cheers. :)

I can highly reccomend the asus p5q deluxe, had one with a q6600 at 3.8ghz and a q9550 also at 3.8ghz, great overclocking board. Your right about a better cpu cooler as well, i had a freezer pro which needed a bit of modding to fit the deluxe, it was ok upto 3.4hz on the q6600 but i swapped it for a TRUE which allowed me to overclock higher, and fitted without modding.

Spending £180'ish on a motherboard and ram just too get your cpu to 4.0Ghz is a total waste of money mate.

Save up some more, and get a new graphics card, or cpu/mobo/ram combo.

At 3.3Ghz already..i doubt there is anything it struggles with.
