I was out in a club the other night and paid the girl £20 for a bottle.

I never usually check the change but for some reason decided too. She had given me a tenner back, two quid and some shrapnel - meaning she'd done me out of about £6.

Before I had chance to say anything she was up the other end of the bar so I went over and asked one of the door staff to get the manager.

He came over to me a few minutes later and asked me what till it was. I told him it was the black girl and pointed to the till. He went over, counted the cash and disappeared for a few minutes. Then he came back with a voucher for a free drink. I said that wasn't good enough and he said it was all he could do so I left it at that.

I'm not really bothered about the money or the management not giving it me back, just the audacity of the **** behind the bar.

I can understand them making a few quid here and there from people like me who are usually drunk to check it, but not £6. Also, the manager took a b-line to that particular till before I'd even answered him, so I reckon she'd been at it before. I also think the till was obviously up otherwise he'd have told me to **** off.

So anyway, make sure you check your change people. Certainly explains some of those nights where I've ended up spending a fortune.

Yes, and be sure to check both ways before crossing the road, never drink more than 2 units of alcohol a day, eat your greens and don't eat yellow snow

Yeah I know what you mean! I was in a club in september in Benidorm with a friend. I payed for a few drinks with a 50 Euro note. The muppet behind the bar must have thought I had a walking stick or something as he tried to fob me off by giving me 13 Euro back.

I also hate the way that some people take the michael with charging you. I've been going to a place in Liverpool for about 7 years now and I know the prices like the back of my hand. Some new bar girl decided to add around £5 to my total bill which didn't really please me.

Its weird. If my wife (or infact women in general) check their change its fine. If i do it i get odd looks and i've notice most men just chuck their change in the pocket n walk off

can you not just check it with a single glance to just estimate, just to see if there are the correct amount of pound coins or notes and it takes less than a second for me to notice

even when drunk it's just something i do naturaly... no one else?

I have a quick glance but dont count for ages

It depends where I am, if I'm in one of my locals then I generally won't even bother checking at all but if it is somewhere I don't go so often then I'll have a quick look just to check that it isn't way out.

Went to bench the other day, got a jumper + tshirt came to 32 quid.

Went up, credit card got declined, eek!

Its ok ill use my other card, but she'll get you there while I cancel the order, she only scanned the jumper!

Saved 12quid!

I was in a club last month, wasn't even drunk and I bought two bottles - £4 each! Gave the girl a £20 and got £2 back - before she even had chance to walk away I let her know. I never trust bar staff.

You should have said that you would return either later that night or in the morning after they had cashed up - they would have found out if their till was up or not and they should have given you your refund

I do that but I get a few extra seconds as I put it in my purse. If I'm sticking cash straight in my pocket though I check I have the right notes and roughly the right number of pound coins. :)
