Checkdsk on XP

I mean the one in windows that can take ages and have various levels

i read somewhere not to run this unless you have a good reason
as on my earlier win98 days i'd prob run it once a month and a defrag
for general housekeeping

any comments ?

If your PC tends to BSOD a lot of crash then chk dsk is fine, I haven't heard of any reason not to run it though.
