Hi all

Im looking at upgrading to 4 Gbs of ram from my current 2Gbs

My current setup is: -

Intel Core Duo E6600 LGA775 Conroe 2.40Ghz
Abit IP35 Pro
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400C4 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Galaxy 850W
Antec Nine Hundred Gamers Case
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
3x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

I was looking at possibly getting

OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK)

Basically if anyone could give me any advise as to whether purchasing that ram would be advisable or if they could recommend anything else?

Thanks in advance

the last time i had crucial ballistix i ended up having constant memory problems for months. I sent them to crucial and after many weeks received an apology and a brand new set of ram sticks. The exact same problem happened once again and I have never looked back at crucial. The second I swapped to another pair I didnt have any problems.

Wouldnt it be far better tho to have 2 sticks of memory running Dual Channel than 4 sticks ?

There's no real benefit to having 2x2gb over 4x1gb other than having two empty slots.

But I'll agree that the Crucial has a tendency to fail, tho they will replace it within 7 days these days.

Is your CPU overclocked?

my cpu is not over clocked. Unfortunately as I live in Gibraltar it costs me quite a bit of money to send these things back and it does take a lot longer than 7 days for me to receive any feedback so Id rather spend that extra bit of money to be on the safer side

Ah right.

Well whilst the memory you linked to in the first post is fine, you will see no benefit choosing it over the CAS5 OCZ tbh if you're not overclocking.
