Cheep Gaming System Please!

to get a fairly decent cheap gaming machine...£250-£300 should be your budget. I recently built a cheap gaming machine for someone, went for an Intel dual core bundle with case, PSU, CPU and RAM and added a new HDD and GPU. Total for all that? £260 and the GPU itself was an ATI 4670 512MB GDDR5. He mainly plays flight sim games so didnt need anything more expensive than this...

Previous to me building the machine for him, he had asked a local PC shop how much it would be for a cheap gaming system to play such games. He was quoted £700!! go figure.

Yea, I dont have access. Which is annoying! When I was looking for a cheap 8800 was when a GTX went for £60, remember sombody teling me just after I spent £50 on a 320mb GTS on the bay haha. But that soon died, RMA'd and I got an 8800GT OCX sent in return... not bad lol

But back on topic, you should have access to the MM, if you dont mind going for second hand components you can get some great deals. Otherwise your going to be struggling for £200

Most of my current rig is second hand some of it from the mm.

I may be able to borrow a gfx card from my brother until i can afford to buy one myself, just wanted a rough idea as to what to go for.

@Ducky Spud I do a lot of encoding avi>DVD and back thats why i said no the E1200 (I still got over 400 DVD's to encode for my HTPC!)

I have a system i'm looking to maybe sell, i'm not going to post the specs/price until someone confirms if this is allowed, or should just be kept to MM, drop me an email if you're interested.

Sorry but I just wish to say this... LOL
It's gonna be never cheap unless you don't want full option
Games do require extream performance system at full antialising maximum option

Hmm the OP is going to be verrryyy lucky to build something half decent with that budget... as said I would add at least another 50 quid to the budget to make it worthwhile.

This is the minimum I would consider to make it a worthwhile upgrade BEFORE adding a GPU...

Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply (CMPSU-400CXUK) £42.99

Total : £247.88

Personally if I were you OP I would source ALL of the components from MM and put up a big wanted thread advertising for a:

  • E6600 - around 60 quid
  • Gigabyte DS3 965 - around 40 quid
  • Cheap PSU 400w minimum - around 30-40 quid
  • 8800GT 512MB - Around 50-60 quid

Buy the Kingston RAM new from OCUK.

That should see you right for around 240 quid. :)

Of course it's not allowed, that's the whole point of having MM access restrictions... it's either MM or nowhere on this forum so please wait until you have access before selling anything.

Thats why you post a WANTED thread, you get first dibs when people offer you. :)

Make a wanted thread, sometimes people don't bother making a for sale thread and would spot your wanted thread and take the chance for a quick easy sale.
