I think the 8800GTX and the 9700 PRO.
I had 8800ultra SLI, didnt think much of them but i agree on the 9700 pro, combined with one of them insane overclocking AMD thoroughbreds was a kickass combo.

The 7950 was an amazing card for the money.

loved my 7970 overclocked to 1200/1650 on reference cooler, but i took a hit when i sold it £450 - £100 and i didn't have it more than 2 years
james.miller Oct '12 said:8800gtx. It just redefined single card performance, blisteringly fast at the time. Followed by the unlocked 128bit 9500non-pro and the unlocked x800gto2 for their sheer bang-for-buck.
you know what you could be right.people mocked the 970 its 2 years old and still plays everything at 1080 maxxed.so really its been a great card.
another year in one yet.so 3 years at max settings at 1080 is pretty good for a card people claim is gimped.
see if a 480 is doing that for 3 years![]()
The 9700pro was probably the most awe-inspiring card released compared to what was available at the time, quickly replaced by the 9800pro which was only slightly better. I still have my HIS card somewhere.
8800gtx is the best card ever by a country mile. Some here may be too young to have owned one new however....

My answer is always the same. So i'll quote it:
Mine doesnt. my 970 is fast running out of grunt. Max settings...id love to see deus ex maxed out, or the division on your rig. Bit-tech said Deus ex destroyed the 970 at 1080p. In fact it doesnt hold 60fps with medium settings, let along high / very high or ultra.
fingers crossed I would like to get my hands on a 980ti to replace my 970Don't fret, Gibbo will find a stash of them in a darkened corner of an obscure overseas warehouse!
yip Ive still got one in use in the machine my son usesThe 7950 was an amazing card for the money.
mines used to benchmark great but I never found much of a difference in games using the crossfire coompared to the single card.Loved my 7950 Crossfire setup![]()
9700Pro
8800GT
My personal favourite for 'bang for buck' was X800GTO2, which unlocked to X850XT.
