Chernobylite

I remember playing this years ago, some sort of demo or early prealpha, I remember that base and the window which overlooks the landscape. It only had one place you could go to at the time, thing is, I could have sworn it wasnt called Chernobylite back then but cant remember what it was called, either that or it was called Chernobylite and the name just faded from my memory

This game really looks incredible, honestly if I didn't know any better and someone told me this was STALKER 2, based on visuals I would believe them.

I only played the intro though, I am in FF15 and will play Chernobylite later. But very much looking forward to it!

I'm a massive STALKER Anomaly fan and gave this a punt to tide me over till STALKER 2.

I played for a couple of hours and just didn't get on with it, ended up returning it, which is something I've only done once before on Steam.

I think the object detection tool put me off to start with, I know I could just not use it but seemed very silly and over powerful. It also felt quite walled garden and linier compared to Anomaly. The world didn't feel open and alive it felt very scripted which is what I didn't like about the Metro games.

This is...yeah. This game may take place around Chernobyl, but it is NOT STALKER and never was supposed to be some STALKER copy. It is a different game with different design goals.

Great game, I was one of the early backers and glad I did, finally picked it back now they have completed it and really enjoying it.

Playing the demo right now, certainly looks very nice and runs great too, 120+ fps, very impressed. Not sure it feels very AAA title though in terms of game mechanics, feels like an indy game which tbh it is.

How replayable and open world is this? Is this more of a "get to the end of the story and credits roll" or is a different run each time?

I'm getting the impression it's the latter going by the Steam Store info.

Finally after two years of owning it I started playing. Some 20 hours in, really enjoying it.
It does scratch the STALKER itch quite well, eventhough it is very different (smaller maps that you visit repeatedly, bigger emphasis on story and choices, less on combat, basebuilding).

I am intriguide by the story and look forward to playing more. It runs well and looks impressive.

I never even got round to spending more than 20 minutes in the first. I'll have to get round to it at some point. I played a very early version and said to myself I'd come back to it when it was finished. never did!

Uninstalled, somehow the control mechanics and visuals seem more dated than the first game? That's on Ultra quality too lol. Maybe it's the UE post processing but it does not look like a current gen game at all.

I love the idea of the game, or at least the accurately modelled setting... but the whole spooky radioactive anomaly and weird paramilitary side just sounds like a complete drag.
I'd much rather a sort of puzzley-exploration game, where you can just go round everywhere freely and soak up the atmosphere of a place with such real life and serious impact.
