I believe you are not allowed to modify an exhaust system to allow the gases to flow better & make more noise. Something along those lines anyway.

Unless it's a GTi, Quicksilver or perhaps Ralley, adding an aftermarket exhaust is actually illegal, punishable by public execution. Even if the car in question is one of the above, adding anything to them is questionable IMO
 
Hmm, that would sound nice on the BGT V8 I'm building.

Probably not so much on a 106, ebay must be awash with decent cat-back exhausts for these that will be properly tuned (more so than bodging in a glass pack) for your vehicle.

However, leave the cats alone and don't make it sound like a wasp and you'll probably be OK.

Loud does not equal more power.
Larger bore does not equal more power.

The actual law states that a car exhaust can be modified but it must not produce more noise than standard.
 
You know I've not actually seen a 106 or saxo for a long, long time, even 5 years ago they were everywhere. Today's young ned seems to have access to far more expensive motors in general
 
To be honest these usually sound better when you put at least two or three on the car. Do that and you have my respect
