What a waste!

The LS-1 Chevrolet small-block is a great little motor. All aluminium, so it doesn't act like a boat anchor. Plenty of tuning goodies. Powerful, torquey, reliable.

And then some guy goes and sticks one in a BMW 3 series Compact....ugh.

Say hello to a 357ti. Used to be a '95 318ti. Weight has gone up by a whopping 40lbs, power has risen fairly substantially (368 horsies at the rear wheels).

/wanders off to cleanse eyes by looking at pictures of Dodge Chargers.

All's cool, cept the Nascar wannabe spolier and the dodgy exhaust. :o

I'd most certainly drive it around. :p

I know how you feel JRS :(

Those engines should only be in Hot rods or Propper American and Australian cars.

So many old jags down here are wrecked by people putting those in and taking out the original V8s and V12s :(

EDIT: DOES HE STILL HAVE ****ING DRUMS ON THAT!!!!

I cant quite see it for sure but it looks like it does on the angle its taken

That said, at least the engine has a stiff chassis with decent suspension to play in :D :p

Did you just describe the E36 Compact as having 'decent suspension'?

You are aware that the Compact didn't have the same setup as the standard E36, right? In fact, it had a bitsa made out of E36 and E30 parts. It was always a bit of a compromise in order to get suspension into that stubby little tail-end. Also, this so-called stiff chassis can't actually take the LS1's power and torque very well - 368rwhp is the most they can really give it without Bad Things™ happening.

As for a VTEC one - perfect. Not enough torque to overwhelm the chassis :D
