Hey folks, time for a random food question :D

Of course, I can nuke it from orbit, use it as a football, volleyball, or even stick it on my head and ski down the road, but the question being...

We moved in to our first house on Tuesday and parents kindly cooked a whole chicken for us and brought it round wrapped in foil around mid-day, we put it in the oven (which was off) and had planned to have it for dinner a few hours later, unfortunately due to a set of circumstances which meant we never got home until about 11pm, too late for dinner, I then decided to put it straight in the fridge that night even though it had been out half of the day.
Yesterday, I totally forgot about it being at work until 1030pm, so it's still in the fridge now... Edible or chuck it?

Generally it's raw chicken you have to be careful of as it's the bacteria which grows on it. The toxins it releases can't get cooked out easily and that's what makes you sick.

Either way, as a general rule with chicken cooked or not, is don't risk it. Just chuck it and buy another from the rotisserie.

Really?

I would think nothing of cooking a chicken on Tues and still be having sandwiches off it on Thurs...

If assume you mean sticking it in the fridge after cooking, as opposed to leaving it out all day first?

it wouldnt be unknown for us to put a cooked chicken in the microwave after carving to get it out the way of the cats (too hot for the fridge) and then forgetting its in there until the next morning.

havent died yet.

General rule of thumb for me is that if it's chicken and I have to ask, I err on the side of caution.

I do similar all the time it'll be absolutely fine, give it the sniff test first of course then dig in.

I'll cook one, take some meat off stick it in the microwave away from the dog then finally get round to ripping all the other meat off a day later box it stick it in the fridge and be munching on it for another couple of days.

(I can not be held accountable for any large increase in toilet roll bills due to this advice)

It was in the oven wrapped in foil, so not left on the side exposed to the air.

You would always let it cool down first for a few hours before putting it in the fridge anyway

chicken goes slimy when its off.

I cook a chicken, stick it in the fridge once its cooled and its fine for like a week.
I take all the meat off the carcass and stick it in a tupperware box though, maybe helps it last longer

just put it in the coldest part of the fridge
