Chihuahua.

Fair point I was trying wit out in my second reply, but you could have worked out what to do from my first comment really.

So what if I think some of the photos on here aren't awesome. Regardless of how good my photos may not be, my comments are a million times more useful than 'great shot' and 'oh cool!'. If you only want to hear comments like that head over to deviantart and keep your eyes and ears shut.

You can be honest without being arrogant! Even your response, you come over as arrogant and incredibly up your own! You could call it 'Wit', but then you need to be funny in the first place.

There is a line between critique being helpful and being damn right pointless and unfortunately you fall into the latter and not just in this thread.

:(

It isnt the easiest thing to revive an image from a jpg, but it gives the gist of the processing id personally go for if i had the raw.
Maybe you would like to contribute rather than just throwing out critique for once.

I thought id given enough guidance for you to do it yourself, but well if you please.
For once - pfft.

I like the shot, i think its good. Just needed to be more daylight balanced, the camera clearly had a field day with all the orange fur.

Thats all that was needed to highlight your comments made; a picture paints a thousand words or what ever it is they say. And it is a very good piece of processing! The whites around the nose seem a little over done almost as if the dog is going grey! but again probably due to trying to work from a jpg image. I think now neoni has some very good feedback to take on

I admit now having read back my original comment i was a little brash. I thought (probably on another thread), that i had outlined how to redo it, on closer inspection it seems i hadn't. My apologies.

Process i went through to achieve that.
*adjusted black, grey, white point on curves using the droppers.
*desaturated slightly (as IE blows out the colours)
*small amount of contrast
*small amount of colour balance to removed cast from the whites.
*desaturated background to enhance foreground/dog colour
*sharpened.

Have to agree with Martin on this one. The guy came in looking for advice which you could have offered in a better way. Just because you've been using cameras for a while doesnt make you better. You're just more experienced...

Did I say I was better? Did I make a personal insult against him?

Jesus, we're not all trying to be MKs.

Lol someone needs to cut down on the coffee :p Not going to derail the thread anymore but I was simply pointing out that there's a nice way to critisise and a bad way. If everyone starting out was taught the bad way they'd lose the confidence to move on and improve.
