I suppose it depends on how old the "nipper" is. If he s not in his teens, maybe not.
If the OP is really worried about the sort of game content he wants his kid to play, he only has to watch a few Youtube vids.

Mickey Mouse: Castle of Illusion

Not exactly an amazing story or anything, but a good fun platform game. I am 32 and I loved it . Its quite a challenge as well, especially the end boss.
