Hi there

This year Overclockers UK are getting behind the BBC Children in Need Campaign, and we are hoping you will get behind it too by donating to this worthy cause.

Their aim is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK. For every penny you give, a penny will go to children experiencing behavioural or psychological disorders; living in poverty or suffering through illness, distress, abuse or neglect.

We've set up our fund raising page at JustGiving.com/Overclockers-UK so just visit this page and make your donation!

Lets not only hit the target guys, lets smash it and show everyone how great OcUK forum members, staff and customers are! :)

Is OcUK doing anything to raise the money, to stand out from the crowd/give people more of a reason to donate? Otherwise, surely it's just easier to give directly to them, cutting out Just Giving's commission, lol.

Most staff members have contributed including Spie himself and the simple fact is many people will be unaware, we are making people aware. :)

We are publishing links in sigs and posting on our forums etc opening up awareness to donation. Thats more than many are doing and at the end of the day every little helps!

So no, then ;)

I'll donate through this if you organise a fancy dress day at the office, otherwise I'll donate directly.

What about OcUK gives online purchases the option to give, for example, 5% of their total purchase to charity. So if Joe Bloggs bought something for £100, he would have the option to give £5 to charity.

Just Giving take 5% in fees and on top of that pay transaction fees.

I also presume Children In Need have some (but smaller by volume) of their own fees. Wouldn't it be better to donate directly and perhaps 'do' something Children In Need as a group?

We could do but it has limited reach.

As such instead were about to take the awareness up another notch with banners featured directly on our website, forums and landing page just to ensure as many people see this as possible. :)

You could take awareness up another notch without funding another layer of bureaucracy..

Ok. I'll stick to donating directly then, so the kids get more money.

Have donated, nice one OCUK, would be nice to smash the 3k barrier.

Dont want to step out of place here, its just and idea but why dont you donate a certain percentage from products sold online? I mean it doesn't need to be massive, £1/£2. Would be far more effective than trying to rally around the forum where the majority will only reply with reasons not to donate.

Again, I would just like to say its not meant in a harsh way. I have great respect for what you are doing already and as above have made my donation via think link provided.
