Chinese Ad Pages on Phone

Power off the phone by holding the power button. Then after a few seconds, hold volume up and the power button. When the fastboot screen appears, let go of both buttons, then try the commands again.

Just going back to previous language select then after selecting English the stock recovery screen. I can shut it down and boot as normal back to where it was so I think I will do that and start again from the very beginning tomorrow afternoon.

Still struggling with this!

Cannot get past step 10. When I reboot with the power and volume down button then let go of the power button when it vibrates nothing happens. It stays on the black screen with the 1+ logo. Unless it take longer than about 20 seconds to load?

I then tried the "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command which seemed to work followed by the "fastboot boot twrp.img" and got FAILED (remote: dtb not found)

Left it in Fastboot Mode hoping for some further advice.

Dowloaded and switched to older TWRP and I am now in.

No options to "select wipe and wipe the system, data, cache and dalvik cache partitions. Be careful not to wipe any other partitions"

It simply has "Wipe" is that OK to select just "Wipe" then "Install"?

Look like I am almost there. Not sure what Apps if any are included, so do I simply download all required Apps from the Google Play Store?

If you mean the top right option "Wipe", it will open up another menu with a list of partitions you want to wipe. Just make sure the partitions I listed previously are ticked, with the others unticked.

It will remove all the bloatware the fake Oxygen OS ROM had (like cleanmaster, etc) and will have the usual Google apps as well as OnePlus' own apps.

If you mean the folder path looks like /sdcard/ then yes that's right. Due to how older versions of Android work the internal storage is called sd card while these days the actual sd card is called external :p.

ARGH!!! Thought it was goind too well!! I now have an error. Error 7 installing Zip file in big red writing.

Help!

I am still on the failed/error page. OK back to Install waiting for download.

Final question hopefully. My phone has offered to download the latest version of the oxygen OS 3.14 and after acceptance, downloading and rebooting to install the updated OS my phone has gone back to the TWRP screen. How do I get rid of this now and boot normally?

Hmm it should have replaced it with the stock recovery on boot.

Power off the device and after a few seconds, go to fastboot mode via holding the volume up and power button at the same time.

Download this: https://s3.amazonaws.com/oxygenos.oneplus.net/OPX_recovery.img

Rename it as recovery.img

Copy that into the fastboot/adb folder, then shift right click and open a command window. Connect the phone to the PC then do the following command:

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Then when it's done do this to boot back to Android:

Code:
fastboot reboot

And then check for system updates again. Should be able to update normally after that.

I don't think so I tried numerous app finder programmes to try and identify the rogue app to no avail.

I now know there is no rubbish built into the ROM so if they appear again I will know it is an App.

And then check for system updates again. Should be able to update normally after that.

Now booting normally and updated to latest ROM.

If I have any further queries over the next few day I will start a new thread.

Many thanks again!
