Chinese CPU might match Zen3 IPC

Then the only was to test that is to have them all at the same clocks.

but if you only game, you do CPU vs CPU
AMD only passed skylake with there 3XXX chips

Just to be clear i went 6700k @ 4.1 to a 1800x because i was the newer / bigger is better guy like a lot of people. so basically i'd have a big ass down grade when everyone started raving about Ryzen been amazing
then i went 1800x to 2600x to 3600x that's a lot of cash to end up back where i started

Everybody was going console mad back then, 8 cores ftw, but it didn't happen that games used more than 4 threads meaningfully for several more years :o

Zen 1 was not a great gaming CPU. Mostly, the 4 thread 7600K was much quicker than the Ryzen 1600, and 3600. Steve Walton predicted that wouldn't last long, he was right.

I knew that before him :D

The IPC was around the same as Skylake, but Zen 1 only clocking to 3.8Ghz vs 4.6Ghz Skylake the clock speed made the difference.

Zen 2 the clocks didn't change much, 4.2Ghz? But the IPC was higher, so it made up the gap.

Zen 3 the IPC was quite a lot higher, and they clocked more like Intel, 4.4Ghz - 5Ghz, at that point the performance, across the board way clear and undeniable.

i5 4690K @ 4.6Ghz: 33 FPS, 47% GPU load.

Ryzen 1600 @ 3.85Ghz: 85 FPS :D

again i did say sorry i thought zen3 was 3XXX chips, well done for reading everything before you jumped in

Nonsense. 6th Gen Intel came in 2015, Zen 2 (AMD 3xxx) came in 2019. However you want to spin this, you're the one who started the unfair comparisons which you're now criticising.

So he made it more fair.
yes 12threads vs 4, a 6700k would have killed it(it did kill it for a long time lolz...)
no matter how you fight it, 6700k was the same at a 3600x

edit: i had a 6700k and upgraded to a 1800x and there was a massive drop in frames in ever game
just to be clear he's comparing a (4c)ivybridge CPU..
