Chinese of choice?

I like chilli shredded beef, s&s chicken hong kong style, some special fried rice, vegetable spring rolls and sesame praw toast.

My usual is:

Beef chow mein
Egg Fried Rice
Chicken curry
Beef with ginger and spring onions
Chicken balls with s+s sauce
curry sauce

Normally get free prawn crackers chucked in as well.

This feeds 3 of us easily. My chinese does massive portions.

I'll go traditional here:

Siu Yuk which is a salted roast pork belly
Cha ap fan which is roast pork, roast duck and fried rice
Fung jao which is chickens feet in black been sauce
Ham yiu kud ye bo which is aubergine and salted fish hotpot

Those are a few of the dishes we have regularly, also try some traditional chinese veg such as choi sum and ung choi.

mrs' normal order (i dont get a say)-

chicken balls with sweet and sour or curry sauce
shredded chicken
duck with plum sauce
singapore noodles
salt and pepper ribs
house fried rice
crispy seaweed (just aweful)

Sweet and sour shredded beef. My old local takeaway did it a ridiculously cheap price and it was the most unhealthy, fatty, delicious dish ever.

Also, pretty much anything with duck in it. Can't get enough of the stuff

China Dragon in Chesterfield is the best Chinese I have ever had, and its bad that I live soo close to it :D

So I like to order the following

Aromatic Crispy Duck with Pancakes
Singapore Chow Mien
Chicken Balls with Curry Sauce

Mmmmmmmmmmm, yummy ;)

Me:
Chicken satay
Singapore fried rice

My wife:
Chicken in green peppers in black bean sauce
Egg Fried Rice

I never understand why people order chips from a chinese takeaway. There are so many different flavours to try, why get crappy western foods?

It's not like I'm going to the Chinese for an omlette and chips.

I don't get it all the time, but occasionally it's nice on the side and goes well the the dishes I usually get.

Normally get this between me and my gf:

Chips
Chicken Satay skewers in peanut sauce (nom)
1 egg fried rice
Quarter crispy duck (nom)
Plain chow mein or Chicken chow mein

The portions are seriously massive at out local Chinese so that could easily feed 4 and we end up leaving loads

CRISPY CHILLI BEEF

Ingredients
For the beef
200ml/7fl oz vegetable oil, for deep-frying
2 free-range eggs, beaten
5 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp sea salt
400g/14oz fillet steak, sliced into thin strips
2 carrots, sliced into thin strips

For the sauce
2 spring onions, finely sliced
2.5cm/1in piece ginger, peeled, cut into matchsticks
2 garlic cloves, sliced
½ tsp chilli flakes
4 tbsp caster sugar
50ml/2fl oz rice vinegar
50ml/2fl oz light soy sauce

Preparation method
For the beef, pour the vegetable oil into a deep fat fryer or medium saucepan and heat until it reaches 180C/350F, or when a small cube of bread dropped in turns golden in 30 seconds. (NB: Hot oil can be dangerous. Do not leave unattended.)
Whisk the eggs, cornflour and salt in a bowl to a thick batter.
Coat the steak strips in the batter, shaking off any excess, and fry for two minutes in the oil, or until just crisp and turning golden-brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on kitchen paper. Coat the carrot strips in the batter, shaking off any excess, and fry for two minutes in the oil, or until just crisp and turning golden-brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on kitchen paper.
Heat a wok with one tablespoon of the deep-frying oil. Add the spring onions, ginger, garlic and chilli and stir-fry for one minute.
Add the sugar, vinegar and soy sauce, deep-fried beef and carrots and stir until well combined. Remove the pan from the heat.
Serve the chilli beef with boiled rice, chilli slices and lime wedges.

Our usual Chinese takeaway consists of:

  1. Chicken fried rice
  2. Curry Sauce
  3. Duck spring rolls
  4. Prawn Crackers

Perhaps not as adventurous as some others posted here but bought from our usual Chinkies* (we can say that - right?) it tastes delicious :)

*Edit - if the above is deemed racist in this day and age can a mod please adjust accordingly.

There's a wonderful chinese round here that does deep fried chicken in a 5 spice sauce which is rather peanutty... it's so good. So so good. Want.

When you said deep fried chicken, i was cacking myself laughing, then i went back and read it and i then understood it, true story here, in my last year of school we were in one of those lessons at the end of the year when you do jack all, someone brought up favourite chinese restaurunt and somone honestly shouted out "Chick-King!"
hahahahaha
