Nice work mate, they are great phones for the money.

Thanks. It was a lot of work as I haven't done anything like this since my Nexus 4 years ago. Almost gave up at one point because I managed to lock myself out of the phone because I froze some MIUI account app with Titanium Backup. At which point I flash the Resurrection Remix ROM and so glad I did. Worth it in the end :)

I believe mine (well, the wife's) is running the standard MIUI rom it came with.
Can you advise how to unlock the boot loader please, because I've read a lot of conflicting advice, or out of date advice, and I'm not clear which way is the current best way.
cheers

How's the battery and camera PixelChef?

I'm on the validus rom and the battery is about 30% better than i got from any cyanogen rom. The stock camera app on here is really unstable mind you, third party is usually OK.

The battery seems very good but can't compare it much because I only used the miui rom for about a week before changing. Stock camera app was unstable also, I'm using Google camera and works fine, can't comment on quality though as I haven't really used it yet.

Lol whoops, I would not mind trying a custom ROM on mine but I like MIUI to much.

you should try a custom rom. I really liked the miui rom as well but this is way better, couldn't go back now.

I know what you mean, but I like it and I am a MIUI beta tester lol, so I need to stay on it.

Pixelchef, do you have links to what you downloaded and installed. I have unlocked my boot loader and am rooted. Would love to install a custom ROM and get Pokemon Go working again for the kids.

TIA

Do you know if LineageOS works with all version of the Mi5? There are at least two versions of the Mi5 with different screens. I know with Cyanogenmod, the capicative buttons didn't work on my Mi5 variant.

There was an update to the firmware and reports of it working, although the member being replied to in this post still has issues but they apparently have a glass screen protector on their phone..

Pixelchef is your finger print scanner working. I cant find out where to set it up. :)

GA won't work either. Hmmm

Yeah fingerprint works, under security settings.

What's GA? :p

edit: oh Google assistant? have you installed the module? I think I had to set up a shortcut for it under the ROM settings > buttons > hardware keys. Then set long press home button as "Google now on tap"

and you should be able to access the settings under settings > Google > search > Google assistant
