I have a

ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO which cannot upgrade correctly to windows 11, due to the chip not being supported (intel i7 7700k 4.2ghz 4200mhz, 4 cores, processors)

Could you tell me what intel cpu i can upgrade my board to, so i can get windows 11, or would it be better to buy a completely new board altogether?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Unfortunately there is no upgrade for your board. If you take a look at the cpu support list the 7700k is the top chip it will take. If you want to upgrade then it's new motherboard/CPU and maybe memory time. I wouldn't be in a rush for windows 11 though. I haven't got it and won't be for a while yet.

Unofficially, you may be able to mod the BIOS to install a 1151v2 CPU (not sure if that would be sufficient to address the TPM, but you could install a supported CPU), or use a workaround to install the OS.

Unless there is a feature on windows 11 that you cant get elsewhere or live without I would not bother and stick to windows 10.
