Hi
I was shooting some photos, then all of a sudden realised nothing was happening (ie not saving them, it was like it was waiting for room in the buffer/flash to recharge, the focus etc still worked). Looked at the display on my d80 and it said (where it shows number of photos remaining) CHK, or something like that (3 letters, deff started with a C). What does this mean?

After that it said there were no photos on it. But at the moment i'm recovering them using some sandisk recovery tool, so it all seems ok. Just wondering what its about...

Cheers

Friend had the same thing recently on his D200, camera was displaying CHK and showing no pictures, but when he put the card into his pc it was fine. I think CHK is a faulty memory card warning, might be dust or grease on the contacts.

CHK probably means check, after pulling your photos from the card format it in the camera and see if it comes back to life, otherwise try another card so you know it's not the fault of the camera.

Other memory cards are working fine.
Just realised that only a few of my photos are actually showing up in windows (none show up in the camera). So far only got about 5% of my pics, the rest are corrupt :(

I have rescurePRO, came with a sandisk sd card, but it isn't actually helping.Got those ~5% of my pics by just dragging the files with jpg previews in windows explorer. The corrupt ones come up with an error when i try and drag those across...

My D70 started doing this recently and I thought it might be something lens related as I can make it disappear if I remove and re-attach whichever lens is on the body at that time??

I had this on my D70 last week. I had to format the card in windows and then the camera would see the card. I then formatted it in the camera to make sure....
